Poetry & Prose 2017

Calling all young writers! Did you know that students from Charlottesville, Albemarle, and surrounding counties have a chance to be in the 2017 Virginia Festival of the Book? Through the annual Poetry & Prose Contest, middle and high school students can submit their creative writing for the opportunity to read their work aloud at the Festival, alongside hundreds of nationally acclaimed authors.

Students from Charlottesville as well as Albemarle, Greene, Fluvanna, Louisa, and Nelson counties in grades 5-8 and 9-12 may submit their poetry and prose on any topic. Don’t be intimidated—work from middle school and high school students will be judged separately!

Contest winners will be invited to perform at the Festival’s Poetry & Prose Celebration on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at the Omni Hotel Charlottesville, and will have their work anthologized in our annual student collections.

Interested, or know someone who might be? Visit VaBook.org/poetryandprose for more details, and submit work at https://tupelopress-twc.submittable.com/submit by February 15 to be considered.
