Join us on Friday, April 7 for a special Book Festival edition of Charlottesville’s monthly gallery walk, First Fridays. We’re co-hosting with Charlottesville Tomorrow a month-long exhibit at CitySpace that features the work of 2017 Festival speaker Melody Warnick, along with additional displays by community partners, WTJU 91.1FM and the Virginia Institute of Autism. This First Fridays opening reception will begin at 5:30 PM and the gallery will remain open until 7:30 PM.

During the 2017 Festival Lit Fair, author Melody Warnick (This is Where You Belong: The Art and Science of Loving the Place You Live) led a creative placemaking project, inviting passersby to fill out small signs about what they love about their hometown. The collected signs will be displayed in this month’s exhibition, and attendees at the First Fridays opening reception will be invited to fill out their own card and add it to the collection. A short artist talk by Warnick will begin at 6:15 PM.

Following this, an outdoor art projection will begin at dusk.
