The first day of the 25th annual Virginia Festival of the Book kicked off with author-illustrator Jarrett Krosoczka (Hey, Kiddo) talking with more than 2,400 Charlottesville-area elementary school students about his life and work, as well as his popular Lunch Lady series. Then, Douglas Brinkley, author of American Moonshot: John F. Kennedy and the Great Space Race, shared the riveting story of America’s race to the Moon. After a number of other programs, the day wrapped up with Festival All-Stars (Douglas Brinkley, Margot Lee Shetterly, Lee Smith, and Adriana Trigiani,) helping celebrate our 25th year!
